MANAGING GESTATIONAL DIABETES BY DIET: A CASE STUDY
Priya Sharma (name changed) aged 33 years came to me after conceiving through IVF. She conceived in July 2017, and started her pregnancy package with me in October 2017, the second trimester.
Her weight in October 2017, when she came to me first, was 53.6kgs. Every visit or follow up with me, her weight and BP were measured (table no. 1), while her hemoglobin level and blood sugar were noted when the concerned tests were done (on advice of her treating doctor, table no. 2).
Priya was diagnosed with gestational diabetes in December 2017.
Her OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test) done on 25th Dec. 2017 had the following results:
Fasting sugar : 155g/dl
After 2 hours: 199g/dl
She was advised a 1500kcal diabetic diet along with some general dietary guidelines for gestational diabetes.

She sent the following message:
“Thank you Dr. Kanupriya for all your guidance and patience. I was not only able to bring my blood sugar levels under control, but was also able to fulfill my sweet cravings. I am so happy and blessed to have had you guiding me, on my journey of delivering a healthy baby girl. My husband and I shall always be indebted to you.”
